Why Park Street is the Best Animation Institute in Kolkata

Why serious students choose Arena Animation Park Street.

Park Street is not just another animation institute in Kolkata. It is built differently — like a real production studio. Five reasons, in plain language, for why our graduates land studio jobs faster than the regional average.

01

Max 8 students per batch.

The single biggest reason our students develop faster. You get individual feedback, multiple iterations, and actual mentor attention — instead of being one face in a room of thirty.

8 Students / batch

02

A studio-first curriculum.

Every project is designed like a real studio brief. You don’t just learn software — you learn how to deliver inside a production pipeline. Brief, build, critique. The way it actually works.

Alumni on Oscar credits.

Our graduates have worked on Oscar-winning and nominated films — Life of Pi, The Jungle Book, Guardians of the Galaxy. Two of those productions won. Not theory. On screen.

MESC NSDC · Skill India aligned

In an industry where portfolio and practical skills matter more than certificates, Park Street is built around outcomes — not just course completion.

Independently ranked the best small-batch
animation institute in India.

Choosing where to learn animation in Kolkata is a long bet — three to four years of your time. These are the third-party recognitions that put Arena Park Street at the top: an institutional ranking from the World Creative Excellence League, and three individual student wins at national award bodies including the Government of India.

Ranked the
best small-batch

animation centre in India.

In 2026, the World Creative Excellence League reviewed Arena Animation centres across India on four criteria: small-batch teaching quality, faculty studio credits, placement velocity, and graduate portfolio strength. Arena Animation Park Street ranked first among all Arena centres in India — and within the top three independent animation training institutes nationally.

Arena Animation Park Street does not guarantee placements. No honest animation institute can.

What it does guarantee is this: every student who reaches the end of the curriculum, maintains adequate attendance, and submits a real portfolio finds an animation job within three months. The students above did the work. Arena did the rest.

Software & Tools

Taught their way.

Every tool below runs on individually licensed software on Intel i7 + RTX-tier workstations. Not pirated. Not shared between students. Industry-standard, end to end.

★ Gen AI & the Pipeline

AI hasn't replaced animators. It's changed what they need to know.

Park Street’s curriculum integrates Generative AI tools directly into the production pipeline. Students learn not just the tools, but when to use AI and when to do it by hand. Studios hiring in 2026 don’t want button-pushers — they want artists who can direct an AI workflow with the same craft they’d bring to a frame they animated themselves.

Amar Trivedi · Visiting Faculty

Filmmaker & AI workflow specialist. Conducts hands-on Generative AI seminars at Park Street, walking students through real-time AI integration in animation pipelines. Sessions like this run multiple times a year as part of the curriculum.

FAQ

Everything you need to know
before you decide.

Is animation a real career in India?

India’s animation, VFX and post-production industry crossed ₹2.3 trillion in 2023 and is projected to grow at over 15% CAGR through 2027. Park Street alumni have worked on Life of Pi, The Jungle Book, Guardians of the Galaxy, War, Pathaan and Mighty Little Bheem — two of those productions won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. Studios across Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata are hiring trained animators today.

How long is the animation course at Park Street?

Five programmes ranging from approximately 2.5 months (Master in Unreal Cinematics, 60 hours) to 37 months (Trinity AVG flagship, 872 hours). Each programme runs three 2-hour classes per week, designed to fit alongside college or work commitments.

What are the course fees?

Fees range from approximately ₹1,24,500 for the 14-month Blender programme to ₹3,06,200 for the 37-month Trinity flagship — all excluding 18% GST and a ₹1,500 registration fee. Payment options include full upfront, monthly instalments, Bajaj Finance 0% EMI, and the West Bengal Student Credit Card programme.

Do I need a drawing background to study animation?

No formal drawing background is required. Animation principles, software, and visual design are taught from foundation level. Many Park Street graduates working at major studios today started without any prior art training. Class 10 or Class 12 eligibility is the only academic requirement, depending on the programme.

What software will I learn?

Industry-standard tools across the pipeline: Autodesk Maya and Blender for 3D, ZBrush for sculpting, Unreal Engine 5 for real-time work (taught by an Unreal Authorized Instructor), Toon Boom Harmony and Adobe Animate for 2D, Houdini FX and Nuke for VFX (Trinity programme), and Generative AI workflows including Stable Diffusion and Runway ML throughout the curriculum.

Does Park Street offer placement assistance, and is placement guaranteed?

Yes to placement assistance. No to a guarantee — no honest institute can guarantee placements. Park Street does guarantee that students who complete the curriculum, maintain adequate attendance, and submit a real portfolio find employment within three months. Recent placements are published openly with names, studios and starting salaries.

Can I do an animation course after 12th, or do I need a degree?

All five programmes accept students straight from Class 12, any stream. The AVGC Blender and AAIPP programmes accept students from Class 10. No graduation degree is required for any programme at Park Street.

Which is better — Maya or Blender animation course in Kolkata?

Both are excellent — but they target different career paths. Maya is the industry standard for large studios working on films, OTT and AAA games — Life of Pi, The Jungle Book, War and Pathaan were all built in Maya. Pick Maya if you want to work at DNEG, MPC, Framestore, YRF or Redefine. Blender is open-source, faster to learn, and increasingly dominant in independent studios, OTT animation, ad-tech, and Indian regional production. Pick Blender if you want a shorter time-to-portfolio or you’re starting from Class 10. Park Street’s counsellors will help match the right pipeline to your actual goal — there’s no universally “better” choice.

Can I get an animation job without a degree?

Yes — and it’s the norm in this industry. Animation, VFX and gaming studios hire on portfolio and reel, not degree certificates. None of the recent Park Street graduates placed at Lakshya Digital, Cosmos Maya, Studio 56 or AfterZ Studio were hired for their degree — they were hired for the work in their showreel. The Park Street curriculum is built around producing exactly that reel. A 10th or 12th pass certificate is the only academic requirement.

How is Park Street different from other animation institutes in Kolkata?

Park Street is the only small-batch animation institute in Kolkata independently ranked first among all Arena Animation centres in India — by WCEL in 2026. Every batch is capped at 8 students. Faculty have all worked inside production studios. The honest answer: visit our campus, ask for placement data with specific names, then visit two other animation institutes in Kolkata and do the same. The differences become clear within an hour.

What career opportunities are available after the course?

Common roles: 2D animator, 3D character animator, motion graphics designer, VFX compositor, real-time / Unreal generalist, modeller, rigger, storyboard artist, game animator. Entry-level salary bands typically start at ₹3–5 LPA, reaching ₹12–25 LPA at mid-level in major studios.

Stop researching.
Come in and
see it for yourself.

You can keep researching for weeks. Or you can come in to Park Street, see the labs on Saturday, meet the faculty, and decide once you’ve seen the actual training.

Seats are eight. When they’re gone, the next batch could be weeks away. The students who get placed first aren’t the most confident — they’re the ones who didn’t wait.
